Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or when you pick up your vehicle. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To rent a vehicle in Wigan, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may vary by vehicle type, with extra charges applicable for those under 25. A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of current address. Valid payment information and a security deposit must also be provided, along with any other requirements listed in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations can be completed via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Wigan office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was collected, taking into account typical wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated, and charges may apply based on the extent of the damage. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as when it was picked up; refueling charges will be incurred if the level is lower. Late returns may attract additional fees, so please inform us in advance if you anticipate a delay. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges accrued during the rental, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Coverage
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Full coverage details and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless further insurance is acquired. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and how much notice is given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up could lead to additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Restrictions on Vehicle Use
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, rallying, or off-roading, as well as transporting hazardous materials. Sub-letting to third parties or allowing unauthorized drivers is prohibited. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding passenger or weight limits, and operating outside agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval are also not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Wigan will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may occur from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount you paid for your rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to claims related to death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
Governing Law in Wigan
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in these regions.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
